Introduction
Welcome to Life in the UK Test 2026 ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"), developed and maintained by 0xsupports. This app is an independent educational tool designed to help people prepare for the official Life in the UK citizenship test.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use our App, how that information is used, and what choices you have. We have written this policy in plain language so it is easy to understand, regardless of your technical background.
By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please uninstall the App and discontinue use.
Information We Collect
We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other directly identifying personal information. The information collected falls into two categories: data stored locally on your device and anonymised data collected automatically by third-party services we use.

Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address
- Passwords or authentication credentials
- Payment or financial information (the App is free)
- Precise GPS or real-time location data
- Photos, camera, or microphone data
- Contacts, call logs, or messages
- Any government identification documents
Firebase Usage
This App uses Google Firebase, a mobile development platform provided by Google LLC. Firebase provides two specific services in this App:
Firebase Analytics
Firebase Analytics helps us understand how users interact with the App in aggregate. For example, it tells us which practice topics are most popular, how long a typical study session lasts, and which features are used most. This helps us prioritise improvements.
The data collected by Firebase Analytics is anonymised and aggregated. We cannot identify you as an individual from this data. Google may use this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
Anonymised Aggregated only No personal profiles
Firebase Crashlytics
Firebase Crashlytics automatically captures crash reports when the App encounters a technical error. These reports include information about the type of device, the Android version, and the sequence of events leading up to the crash. This allows us to identify and fix bugs quickly so you have a stable experience.
Crash reports do not include your personal information. They are technical diagnostics only.
Bug reports Device diagnostics No personal data
AdMob & Advertising
This App is free to use. To support ongoing development, we display advertisements provided by Google AdMob, an advertising service operated by Google LLC.
How Advertising Works
AdMob may display banner advertisements and interstitial (full-screen) advertisements within the App. Google's advertising technology may use your device's resettable Advertising Identifier (Google Advertising ID) and other non-personal signals to show ads that are relevant to your interests.
Personalised vs Non-Personalised Ads
Where required by law — including for users in the United Kingdom and European Economic Area (EEA) — the App presents a consent prompt on first launch powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Your choice determines whether personalised or non-personalised advertisements are shown to you:
- Personalised ads: Ads selected using your Advertising ID and interest signals. You can opt out at any time by resetting your Google Advertising ID in your device Settings.
- Non-personalised ads: Ads based only on the context of the App (an educational app about UK citizenship), without using your Advertising ID for targeting.
Regardless of your choice, the App continues to function fully and no features are locked behind ad consent.
Your Advertising Choices
- Reset your Google Advertising ID: Settings → Google → Ads → Reset advertising ID
- Opt out of personalised ads: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation
- Visit the Google Ad Settings page to manage your preferences
- Visit Your Online Choices for additional opt-out options (EEA users)
Offline Data Storage
A significant portion of the App's functionality works entirely offline. Your study progress, quiz results, bookmarks, and settings are stored locally on your device using an on-device database (Android Room) and Android's DataStore. This data never leaves your device to our servers.
What Is Stored Locally
- Your practice session history and accuracy statistics
- Mock test scores and pass/fail records
- Questions you have bookmarked for revision
- Your daily study streak and XP (experience points)
- App settings (theme, font size, sound preference)
- Recently viewed questions for smart revision
- Achievement progress and unlocked badges
Cloud Backup
Android's Auto Backup feature may back up some app data to your Google account as part of the standard Android backup system. This is controlled by your device's backup settings and Google account preferences, not by us. The backed-up data contains only your study progress — no personal information beyond what you have stored within the App's features.
Sensitive progress data (your test score history stored in the local database) is excluded from cloud backup by design to protect your privacy.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your information with data brokers, marketing companies, or any third parties for commercial purposes beyond what is described below.
Third-Party Service Providers
The App integrates with the following third-party services that may receive limited, anonymised data as described in this policy:
- Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — anonymised usage and crash data to improve app stability and performance
- Google AdMob — your resettable Advertising Identifier for serving and measuring ads (subject to your consent choice)
Both services are operated by Google LLC and are subject to Google's own Privacy Policy and Data Processing Terms. We have entered into data processing agreements with Google as required under applicable data protection law.
Legal Disclosures
We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests (such as a court order or government authority request). We will notify you of such requests where legally permitted to do so.
Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user data as described in this policy may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to the same privacy protections.
GDPR & Your Rights
If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (UK), or the EU GDPR. We are committed to honouring these rights.
Legal Basis for Processing
Where we (or our third-party service providers) process personal data, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests — for Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, to improve the stability and quality of the App
- Consent — for personalised advertising via AdMob, where you have given consent through the in-app consent prompt
Your Rights
Right to Access
You may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
Right to Erasure
You can request deletion of your data. Uninstalling the App deletes all locally stored data immediately.
Right to Rectification
You can request correction of inaccurate data we hold.
Right to Restrict
You can ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
Right to Withdraw Consent
You can withdraw your ad consent at any time via the consent prompt in App Settings.
Right to Portability
You have the right to receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format where technically feasible.
Right to Complain
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of the rights above, please contact us using the details in Section 12. We will respond to your request within 30 days. Note that because the App does not collect directly identifying information, we may be limited in our ability to locate data associated with a specific individual.
Children's Privacy
The Life in the UK citizenship test is an official requirement for adults aged 18 and over who are applying for British citizenship or indefinite leave to remain. Accordingly, this App is designed for and directed at adults.
The App is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions that apply a higher threshold under GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe your child has used this App and provided personal information, please contact us immediately at the address in Section 12 and we will take prompt steps to address this.
The advertising configuration in the App has been set to indicate that the App is not child-directed and that targeted advertising to users under the relevant age threshold is not appropriate. We do not enrol this App in Google Play's Designed for Families programme.
Security
We take reasonable and appropriate technical measures to protect the information processed by this App:
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. The App does not permit unencrypted HTTP connections.
- Local data is stored in Android's protected app-private storage, which is not accessible to other apps on your device.
- The App requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function — specifically, internet access for analytics and ads. No sensitive permissions (camera, microphone, contacts, precise location) are requested.
- The released App binary is compiled with code shrinking and obfuscation, reducing the risk of reverse-engineering.
External Links & Third-Party Services
The App may contain links to external websites or services, such as links to official government resources about the Life in the UK test. These external sites are operated by third parties and have their own privacy policies.
We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, privacy practices, or security of any external websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit via a link from this App.
Third-party services integrated into this App (Google Firebase, Google AdMob) are governed by their respective privacy policies, as referenced in the relevant sections above.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable law, or our practices. When we make significant changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Where feasible, display a notice within the App informing users of the update
- For material changes that affect your rights, we will provide more prominent notice
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
Previous versions of this Privacy Policy can be requested by contacting us at the address below.
